A new show, national spotlight

On Sunday, March 22, 2026, RTS launched “L’Effet Papillon,” its brand-new program dedicated to nature, the environment, and society, airing on RTS Première from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. And for this grand premiere, CO₂—and WasteOlas’s technology—were the focus of the report.

Produced and hosted by journalist Zoé Decker, the show aims to be “a breath of fresh air on Sundays, helping us understand our changing world—not with anxiety, but by discovering inspiring initiatives that shed light on new paths.” This editorial approach aligns perfectly with WasteOlas’s mission.

CO₂: From Climate Villain to Unexpected Resource

The first episode, titled “Carbon High,” poses a fundamental question: How did carbon dioxide—once synonymous with bubbles and joy—become the face of the climate crisis? And above all, how have some people chosen to turn it into a resource?

To address this, the program turned to Célia Sapart, a climatologist and scientific director at CO2 Value Europe, who offers a refreshing change of perspective:

“CO₂ is not an enemy to be eradicated, but a symptom of the excesses of our lifestyle.”

Célia Sapart highlights the potential to repurpose CO₂ to create a circular carbon economy and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels—a vision that lies at the very heart of WasteOlas’s approach.

A report from inside Docteur Gab’s Brewery

Science journalist Christophe Ungar conducted a field report in a “small village in the Canton of Vaud,” at Brasserie Docteur Gab’s, founded and run by Gabriel Hasler. The report highlights a concrete, real-world application of WasteOlas technology:

  • Capturing CO₂ naturally produced during beer fermentation
  • Direct reuse of this same CO₂ in the production process (gasification)
  • Eliminating reliance on fossil-based CO₂, which is typically purchased from industrial suppliers

As Christophe Ungar points out in his LinkedIn post: “A local, circular carbon economy is also an economic argument and a security asset in a world where international trade is no longer guaranteed.”

Michael Peytrignet, an engineer and the founder of WasteOlas, also appears in the report to explain how this solution for local CO₂ capture and utilization works and the vision behind it.

Endorsement by the scientific and media communities

The episode generated significant buzz on LinkedIn, with posts from all the panelists—Zoé Decker, Christophe Ungar, and Célia Sapart—who unanimously praised the effectiveness of the approach demonstrated by WasteOlas and Brasserie Docteur Gab’s.

Célia Sapart describes the report as “ingenious” and poses a question that opens up a world of possibilities:

“A first step toward a more circular and fossil-fuel-free economy for carbonated beverages?”

WasteOlas: A Vision That Has Gained Recognition on the National Stage

This appearance at the launch of a flagship program on RTS—Switzerland’s public broadcasting service—is much more than just a media spotlight. It confirms several underlying trends that validate WasteOlas’s strategic positioning:

  1. Local CO₂ utilization is no longer just a theoretical concept—it is an operational reality, already in use at a Swiss brewery.
  2. Perceptions of CO₂ are evolving: from waste to resource, the paradigm is shifting, and WasteOlas is right at the heart of this transition.
  3. Supply sovereignty is becoming a decisive factor—local production frees producers from their dependence on international industrial CO₂ supply chains.
  4. The convergence of the circular economy, competitiveness, and the ecological transition is now recognized by the mainstream media, scientists, and entrepreneurs.

The fact that the scientific community (CO2 Value Europe), national media (RTS), and industry players (Brasserie Docteur Gab’s) all share this same vision attests to the maturity and relevance of the solution developed by WasteOlas. The future looks promising: if the flutter of a butterfly’s wings in a village in Vaud can inspire global change, WasteOlas is well-positioned to be the catalyst. 🦋
